Winter is a runner’s reality with its slippery surfaces and colder temperatures. Rather than lament the chilly time of year and long for spring to arrive, I choose to embrace the snowy and icy terrain and use it to work on improving my running form. There are so many aspects of good running form that winter can help us with; I’ll expand on a few of them here.
Flint has posted his third and final article on FlintLand‘s Natural Running Series called Natural Running Technique: Analysis. In this article, he shares his thoughts on the basic principles of Natural Running and the coaching he participated in at In-Sport Fashions, Inc. in Montreal. I love his ‘simple rule’ for running: “Run like a five-year-old. Smile. Breathe. Enjoy.”
Flint has posted his second article on FlintLand‘s Natural Running Series called The Natural Running Technique. In this article, he covers the basic principles behind Natural Running as well as shares his Before and After coaching videos and exercises we covered during the session. Feel free to ask questions in the comment section and Flint and I will reply to them as they come in.
While in Montreal for the whirlwind Natural Running Coaching Tour in Ontario and Quebec, I had the extreme pleasure and honour to meet Francois (Flint) Bourdeau. Flint is the writer of FlintLand, a contributor for the Run Smiley Collective as well as an ultra runner extraordinaire and a co-race director of the Caballo Blanco Copper Canyon Ultra Marathon.
I’m home from the whirlwind coaching tour of Ontario and Quebec including Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa, and Montreal. The trip was in a word: AWESOME! It was a wonderful experience, I met incredible people, and enjoyed every minute of it. I’d like to say a HUGE thank you to In-Sport Fashions for making the trip possible. On to the trip recap…
NRC’s Coach Tina Dubois will be taking the principles of Natural Running to Ontario and Quebec, Canada for a whirlwind coaching tour in a few short weeks. I’ll be giving presentations for retailers, consumers, and possibly some media. It will certainly be an exciting trip. Here’s a brief look at the planned itinerary:
It was an exciting week for NRC events: Tina travelled to Vancouver, B.C. to spread the word about Natural Running. The purpose of the trip was to share the fundamentals of Natural Running and the benefits of minimal footwear through a couple of coaching events for local VIVOBAREFOOT retailers. As a VIVOBAREFOOT Certified Coach and a reviewer of minimal footwear, I could have spent a week in Vancouver and still had stuff to talk about. On to the details of the trip…
NRC will be attending this year’s Footstock 2012 Race Expo on June 8 & 9. We’ll be there with our brand new banners and (of course) coaching information on June 8 from 4-9 PM and June 9 from 7 AM – 12 PM at SLS Family Sports Centre in Cochrane, Alberta. Come by and check out the expo and stop by our booth!
We’ve booked an Introduction to Natural Running – Large Group Clinic at Tri It Multisport in Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, May 8 at 6:30 PM. The clinic is an hour presentation introducing important topics about running form, increasing efficiency and decreasing injuries. It costs only $10/person for a maximum of 40 people.
